Second Skin reinterprets Adrian Frutiger’s modernist typeface, Univers, into two unexpected mediums: costume and poetry. The neutrality and adaptability of the typeface is interpreted as a piece of translucent material that can be put on and stretched into different forms. The relationship between the body (content) and the material (typeface) is explored. Much like a second layer of skin, it does not take away attention from the content, but feels just as one with it. Each chapter is accompanied with a piece of poetry, showing how the aesthetic qualities of a typeface an be translated into words.
